Connecting the Device

This chapter describes how to use RVCManager to connect to the RVC Scanner and configure the IP settings.

Search for Devices

Before using the scanner, make sure the cables are connected properly. If you are using a USB scanner, the port should be USB3.0; if you are using a GigE scanner, it is recommended to turn off the network firewall.

Start RVCManager, open the Device Management pop-up window, and click the [Search] button to find the currently connectable devices. After searching, the device list area will display the actual searched device name, serial number and device status.

The meaning of device status and operation suggestions are as follows:

State Description Recommended Action
Idle The device is idle and can be connected. Select the device and click [Connect] to complete the connection.
Connected The device is successfully connected. Ready for use.
Occupied The device has been connected to another computer. Check the occupied device, unoccupy it and search again.
Different Network Problems with the network connection of the GigE device. Check the network and complete the IP settings in the Device Details area.
IP Is Conflicting Conflicting IP settings on the GigE device. Modify the IP settings in the Device Details area.

When the scanner is directly connected to a computer, it may not be searchable, so you need to configure a static IP in the system settings. For the procedure, please refer to Advanced Topics - Configuring a static IP on Linux system.

One-click Connection

Check the device that needs to be connected. If the connection is possible, the right column of the Device Management pop-up window will display the device information. Click the [Connect] button to complete the connection.

After successfully connecting, the device status will change to "Connected", the Device Management pop-up window will be closed automatically, and the main interface of RVCManager will be displayed. At this time, the scanner can be used, and the device information is displayed on the left side of the main interface.

IP Settings

When the device status shows "Different Network" or "IP Is Conflicting", you need to set the IP of the device before connecting. There are two ways to set the device IP: auto configuration and manual configuration.

Auto Configuration

Select the device that needs to be configured, click [Auto Config], the system will automatically assign IP addresses to the device and complete the network configuration. If the auto configuration is unsuccessful, you can try to configure it manually.

Manual Configuration

  1. Expand "Network Card Info" to view the IP, port and mask of the local NIC.

  2. Expand "Settings", manually enter the IP address and subnet mask of the light machine, single camera (or left camera and right camera).

    • IP Address: Ensure that the IP address of the light machine, single camera (or left camera and right camera) is unique and is in the same network segment as the NIC IP.

    • Subnet Mask: Make sure the subnet mask of the light machine, single camera (or left camera and right camera) is the same as the subnet mask in the NIC information.

  3. After the input is complete, click [Manual Config] to complete the network configuration.

After the configuration is completed, check whether the IP address and subnet mask configuration status of the light machine and single camera (or left camera and right camera) are normal. The device can be successfully connected only when all parts of the configuration are normal.

If you still cannot complete the IP setting through the above operation, please contact technical support.

For computers with multiple NICs, if multiple NICs are configured in the same network segment, IP configuration may fail or the device may not be searched. In this case, a pop-up window will appear, and it is recommended that you follow the procedure in Advanced Topics - IP Configuration for Multi-NIC Computers.

Open the Device Management pop-up window via Menu → Device → Device Management (or click the icon-DeviceManagement shortcut button). Select the current device and click [Disconnect] to disconnect the currently connected device.

Firmware Upgrade

If the scanner has a hardware failure, the hardware can be upgraded through the [Upgrade] function for some devices.

The firmware upgrade process involves risks and may cause the scanner to become unusable. If you need to upgrade, please contact technical support.
